Karres en Brands, in collaboration with Holscher Nordberg and Urban Creators, won the main prize in open category of the idea competition for the future development of Refshaleøen. Our proposal explores the concept of scale as a guiding tool for Refshaleøen's development, aiming to leverage the site's unique "scale mosaic" to shape its character and atmosphere.
In contrast to the common approach of reinterpreting post-industrial harbor areas, our perspective sees transformation as more than just an aesthetic reinterpretation of the site. It's an exploration of how the site’s language of scale and its contrasting development over time have shaped its character and how a scale-oriented approach can be used to shape Refshaleøen's future.
