In the coming months the current Kluyverweg (Kluyver Road) will be transformed into the Kluyver Park: a central park that connects the faculty buildings of Aerospace Engineering and Applied Sciences. The park is the heart of this area of the campus and the place for interaction between students, teachers and other users.
Conservation of the iconic avenue with four rows of elm trees together with the underlying ’original’ polder landscape are the main design principles for the new park. Flowering grass verges, long rows of trees, water features and long sight lines are the main ingredients of the landscape.
The Kluyver Park and its surroundings will use a shared space principle which will mainly apply to pedestrians and cyclists. The path structure connects the faculty buildings in an effective and direct way. The paths widen into squares at theentrances to the buildings.
The Kluyver Park is anticipated to be completed by April 2016
