Together with Ghillardi Helsten, Haptic, Erik Langdalen and Selvaag Bolig, karres+brands is selected as one of four teams to masterplan the Adamstuen area of central Oslo. The goal of the parallel assignment is to examine scenarios for urban development on Adamstuen. The project focuses on attractive, climate proof city spaces that bring new functions together with the historical treasures of the site.
The Adamstuen area is located in central Oslo, Norway and is currently housing the University of Veterinary Medicine in a spectacular urban landscape. As a reaction to the planned move of the current, public institutions out of the existing buildings in 2020, Statsbygg calls for an urban development strategy transforming the area into a new quarter that promotes state of the art urban development and conserves the historical values of the place. The project asks that the teams create a holistic plan, integrating the surroundings, new public institutions, housing, business and offices into a green climate proof urban quarter.
