After more than 10 years in a lovely office space, karres+brands has recently moved to the WORKshop on the Werf35 creative campus in Hilversum.

The WORKshop consists of a large hall with three saw-tooth roofs. Originally built as a pharmaceutical factory in 1916, it has been used as a municipal yard since 1923. The karres+brands team has transformed this magnificent, light-filled space into a beautiful working environment, where space is divided without compromising the spaciousness of the original building. The building shapes the WORKshop office space in a way that suits our firm’s development. Its dynamic layout allows us to use the space however we see fit in the moment. There is room to move, explore new techniques like Virtual Reality, conduct spatial research and make mock ups on a 1:1 scale.

The building also challenges us to think bigger. We now have a space where we can embrace new ways of thinking and share knowledge with each other and our partners. The WORKshop provides us with shelter and security in a place where we feel at home and all the space we need to carry out our best work. And when the weather is nice, we can open the large overhead doors for a breath of fresh air.
