The Bauforum is a Hamburg-based event format with a long-standing tradition. Within the framework of six previous Bauforum Hamburg experts have met with nationally and internationally renowned architects and planners to work together in a workshop like process in order to tackle important topics and focal points of urban development (such as ‘Hafencity’ in 1989 or ‘Leap over the Elbe’ in 2003).
From August 19th – 24th, the Hamburg Deichtorhallen will be turned into a huge design workshop for the future of the ‘Magistralen’ under the headline ‘The Boulevards of Tomorrow’. The Ministry for Urban Development in Hamburg has invited around 150 experts and creatives from the fields of architecture, open space, traffic and town
planning, science and culture to turn their minds to these urban spaces under the aegis of the 7th Bauforum.
The Magistralen are the arterial corridors of the city, its entrances, first addresses, local centers but also its dividers, barriers and transit spaces. With their heterogeneous architectural, urban, transport and social structures, they shape the image of the metropolis and are thus a location of great challenges and opportunities for Hamburg’s future
development.
We’re looking forward to the coming week!
