karres+brands together with Arkitema Architects, Social Action, Everyday Studio, ViaTrafik, Esbensen and Orbicon delivered the quality plan for "Tomorrow`s suburb" in the Copenhagen metropolitan region. The Hedehusene municipality approved plan provides the framework for the development of the 63 hectare sized area.
The design is focused on creating an unique quality of life in addition to the existing suburbs around Copenhagen. To achieve this we explicitly made use of the special landscape characteristics of the hilly Hedeland. In addition the plan set conditions for future residents to be (partially) responsible for the development of the area at the level of the building block and the individual house.
Special element in the planning process is the green, recreational park circuit that connects the new city with the existing city. The circuit is both a connection for cyclists and pedestrians, a green recreational vein for relaxation and activity, as part of a sustainable system for storm water retention.
Recently a former warehouse has been demolished to make space for the construction of a new center for gymnastics which will be breaking ground March 2016. The construction of the first houses is anticipated for 2017.
