Karres en Brands has developed a design for the new Central Park North by cross-linking three parks: the Florapark, the Volewijkspark and the new landscape park in the middle.
Each park has its own qualities and identity, and the three parks are connected together by a three-dimensional park network upon which the new functions are anchored. It is a contemporary ‘new dyke’ that, with respect for pre-existing qualities, offers opportunities for connection, recreation and activity. That is the essence of a central park: it should by fed and intersected from all sides. It is the central junction in the green and recreational network of Amsterdam North.
